The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a home in the 8500 block of Hwy. WW in Dittmer. The incident happened Jan. 20, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told deputies she heard noises at about 4:40 a.m. but thought it was her children returning home and did not investigate. However, at about 8 a.m. the next morning she found mud on the steps and discovered damage to rear doors. It looked like the basement doors had been forced open, the report said.
The victim said she didn’t found anything missing. The damage to the doors was estimated at $500, according to the report.
On Jan. 31, Sgt. Matthew Moore said no there had been no arrests. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
