Trevor D. Deemie, 30, of High Ridge recently was sentenced to seven years in prison for felonious restraint, according to court papers.

On Feb. 2, Deemie assaulted, kidnapped and restrained a woman he had a relationship with, the probable-cause statement said.

The victim said she was at a bar in the Soulard neighborhood in St. Louis talking to a bouncer when Deemie showed up unexpectedly and became angry because she was talking to another man, the report said.

Deemie and the victim began arguing, so she went outside with him to avoid causing a disturbance in the bar, and then she jumped into a pickup with him to try to get back her cell phone, which he had taken from her, according to the report.

When she got in the pickup, Deemie took off, and even though the victim asked him numerous times to stop and let her out, he refused, the report said.

In addition, while Deemie was driving the pickup, he repeatedly slammed the victim’s face against the dashboard, causing a wound under her right eye to open up. Later, it took seven stitches to close the cut, according to the report.

Her right eye was nearly swollen shut and the whites in both eyes were blood red, a law enforcement officer said in the probable-cause statement.

The victim said she feared Deemie would “cause her serious physical harm” and opened the passenger-side door at one point, even though the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed, in the hopes Deemie would slow down enough for her to jump out, the report said.

Deemie eventually drove the pickup to his home in the 4400 block of Meadow Drive in High Ridge and “pushed and man handled” the victim in the yard, which left her with scratches on her neck and bruising on her knees and elbows, according to the report.

Deemie pleaded guilty to felonious restraint, a class C felony, and third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor.

On July 22, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart sentenced Deemie to seven years in prison for felonious restraint and 120 days in jail, but the two terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Tiffany S. Baker handled the case.

Deemie currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.

Deemie previously was convicted of felony drug possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia tied to an October 2008 incident in St. Louis County and to two counts of felony drug possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia tied to a July 2008 incident in St. Louis County, as well as to felony stealing connected to a March 2008 incident in St. Louis County, and he received five years’ probation.
