A pickup truck caught fire this morning (Aug. 3) on Hwy. C in the Ware area west of Hillsboro. The pickup was doused by foam, but it was still totaled, De Soto Rural Fire Chief Paul Mayer said.
At 6:05 a.m., De Soto Rural Fire Protection District got a call about the pickup fire. The pickup was sitting along Hwy. C an eighth of a mile north of Hwy. Y, Mayer said.
“It was a Ford F-150 pickup off the roadway on fire,” Mayer said. “He (the driver) had smoke coming out (of the pickup) and it started burning. We put it out with foam because a fuel tank was involved.”
Mayer said no injuries were reported.
Hwy. C remained open during the incident.
“We managed to keep a lane open to keep traffic flowing,” Mayer said.
