A 31-year-old De Soto man allegedly reached for a gun when Arnold Police officers arrested him on a warrant. The man was wanted by the Marshall County (Ky.) Sheriff’s Office for burglary and criminal mischief, Arnold Police reported.
At about 6:40 p.m. Feb. 26, officers saw a 2006 Mercedes C230 parked outside the Walmart Supercenter, 2201 Michigan Ave., and when they checked the license plate, they discovered the driver was wanted in Kentucky. The man had exited the store and was loading groceries into the car when the officers approached him, the report said.
When the officers told the driver they were arresting him on the warrant, he allegedly reached for his waistband, so the officers drew their guns and ordered the man to the ground. He complied, according to the report.
An officer allegedly found a .9mm Glock 43 pistol and six rounds of hollow-point ammo in the man’s waistband. The man also allegedly had a plastic container in his pants’ pocket that contained four purple capsules and a syringe, the report said.
The man was taken to the Arnold Police Station, where he was booked and held. Arnold Police will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for unlawful use of a firearm and possession of an illegal substance, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
