A 36-year-old De Soto man was seriously injured after a crash on Hwy Y south of Tierney Farms Lane in Dittmer early Monday (Aug. 6). He later was arrested for several offenses, including possession of a stolen vehicle.

The man was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger south on Hwy. Y about 5:30 a.m. when the truck traveled off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

He was transported by Survival Flight to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the patrol said. He was listed in critical condition at the hospital on Tuesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram of methamphetamine), felony possession of a stolen automobile and possession of drug paraphernalia, the Highway Patrol reports.

He was released at the hospital pending the application of warrants.

The man was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The 1993 Ford Ranger was totaled.
