A 33-year-old De Soto man recently was arrested in Arnold for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and other offenses. The incident happened about 1 a.m. July 3, when Arnold Police got a call about a disturbance at the QT, 1069 Jeffco Blvd., the report said.

The man reportedly was at the gas station acting suspiciously and had been attempting to enter other people’s vehicles. When police arrived, they found the man sitting in his own vehicle, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

The suspect appeared intoxicated and had beer with him. An officer asked the man to get out of his vehicle and while escorting him to the patrol vehicle, the suspect “became belligerent,” Jones said.

The man allegedly slapped the officer and “attempted to fight with the officer, and “got in a tussle” with the officer, Jones said.

Another officer arrived on the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody. No officers were hurt, Jones said.

He said the suspect was transported to an area hospital for evaluation since he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or suffering from “mental distress.”

The man also was issued summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for DWI on drugs, resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer, trespassing and peace disturbance, Jones said.
