A 21-year-old De Soto man has been arrested for allegedly striking a motorcycle with a car he was driving on Hwy. 21 in De Soto in an apparent road-rage incident. The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. July 3, De Soto Police reported.
The man was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla north on Hwy. 21 behind a 2013 American motorcycle, which a 35-year-old Arnold man was riding. The motorcycle rider told police the Corolla was so close behind him that he could not see the car’s headlights in his rear-view mirrors, the report said.
When the motorcycle and car stopped for a red light at Hwy. 21 and Clarke Street, the two men allegedly yelled at each other. When the light turned green, the motorcycle rider waved for the car to drive around him, according to the report.
After the car passed the motorcycle, the rider reportedly pulled up next to the car, and the two men began to argue again. The rider allegedly kicked at the car’s driver-side door, and the driver of the Corolla swerved and struck the motorcycle, the report said.
The motorcycle went off the left side of the road, and the Arnold man had cuts and bruises on his arms, but he refused medical treatment. However, he later went to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital for treatment, De Soto Police said.
The De Soto man remained at the scene, and he was arrested. He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. De Soto Police will seek a charge against the De Soto man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree assault, Capt. Jeff Wynn said.
