A 43-year-old De Soto man was arrested after he allegedly had a brief tussle with Arnold Police officers outside the Dierbergs store. The incident happened at about 2 p.m. July 25, police reported.
Police were called to the grocery store, 860 Arnold Commons, by a woman claiming the man stole her wallet. When officers arrived, the man allegedly became belligerent and wrestled with one of the officers, the report said.
Officers physically restrained the man and arrested him. No officers were injured in the fight, but the suspect had a small scrape on the left side of his face. However, he refused medical attention, according to the report.
Officers also allegedly found a white-powdery substance believed to be an illegal narcotic in one of the man’s pockets. In addition, the man already was wanted in St. Charles on a warrant for stealing a motor vehicle, the report said.
The suspect was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the St. Charles Police. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, Capt. Rich Shular said.
