Sheriff's Office patch

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent burglary at a home in the 5000 block of Highland Meadows Drive in the De Soto area.

Between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. June 23, someone entered an unlocked garage at the home and then forced open the door from the garage to the home to get inside and stole $25 in cash, the Sheriff’s Office reports.

The damage to the door was estimated at $300, the report said.

The victim told deputies that when he arrived home, he saw that his garage door was closed, and he normally leaves it open for his cats, and then he saw that the jamb to the door leading into the home was broken, according to the report.

He said a door to a bathroom cabinet was open, but nothing appeared to be taken from it.

The only thing he noticed missing was the cash, the report said.

As of June 25, there were no suspects or arrests, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.

He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
