Dakota Lee Reising Killian, 31, of Pevely, who previously was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a second-degree drug trafficking charge, has violated the terms of the probation he received for that offense, court records show.

On March 19, Jefferson County Div. 5 Circuit Judge Victor Melenbrink executed the 12-year prison sentence, but Killian may be released early if he successfully completed a 120-day treatment program, according to court documents.

Killian had been sentenced to prison in June 2023, but the 12-year sentence was suspended. He was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and was placed on five years’ probation, court records said.

Killian was arrested on Jan. 29, 2022, near the intersection of Valley Lane and School Drive west of Pevely. The 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser he was driving was stopped by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy because the SUV’s passenger’s side taillight was not working, the case’s probable-cause statement said.

The deputy smelled marijuana, and when he asked Killian about the smell, Killian pulled out a Crown Royal bag from under the driver’s seat that had four bags containing marijuana, the report said.

When the deputy searched the PT Cruiser, he found two metal grinding devices in the SUV. He also found a bottle in the trunk that had 49 capsules that contained fentanyl, according to the report.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen handled the case.
