Crystal City Police arrested two men on Monday evening, Oct. 23, after they apparently were involved in a road-rage incident that led to a shooting, Crystal City Police Capt. Mike Pruneau reported.
No one was injured, but multiple shots were fired, he said.
The Crystal City Police Department received a call around 5:30 p.m. about the incident involving a 2019 Kia Stinger and a 2002 Dodge Dakota, Pruneau said.
“It started around Buchheit (in Herculaneum),” he said. “It ended up at Sixth Street and Lindsay Avenue (in Crystal City). A subject got out of the Kia. Two people remained in the truck. A passenger in the truck shot about five rounds from a .38 revolver from the truck at the Kia, striking a tire and the bumper. There were witnesses and someone got it on video.”
A 42-year-old Crystal City man owns the Kia, Pruneau said.
The truck left the scene and a witness followed it to the Twin City Walmart, 650 Truman Blvd., Pruneau said.
“(The suspects) went into the Walmart. The witness got a plate and everything,” Pruneau said. “Officers arrested them without incident when they came out of Walmart about 5:40 p.m.”
The passenger, an 18-year-old Imperial man, and the driver, an 18-year-old Festus man, were both arrested and taken into custody.
While the passenger will face charges, it is not yet known if the driver will, Pruneau said.
As of this morning, Oct. 24, both remained in custody at the Crystal City Jail.
“We’ll let the prosecuting attorney decide about the driver,” Pruneau said. “We are seeking charges on the passenger for assault, property damage, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.”
He said the tire on the Kia was flattened, and a bullet hole was left in the bumper.
