Eureka Police patch

Four companies had equipment stolen and trailers damaged at a construction site at Eureka High School, 4525 Hwy. 109. The theft and damage occurred at about 3:15 a.m. March 16, moments after the police patrolled the area, Eureka Police reported.

Hagaman Construction Inc., Eco Camp Electric, Salem Paint and Glass, and C and J Contracting had more than $5,000 in equipment stolen and more than $800 in damage done to storage trailers, police reported.

A Eureka Police officer was patrolling the high school’s parking lot from 1:39 a.m. to 2:21 a.m. before the theft. At about 4 a.m., Eureka High staff discovered a lock cut off a gate to a chain link fence where the companies’ trailers are parked, the report said.

Locks and latches were cut off trailers, and it will cost an estimate $830 to repair that damage. Police are analyzing the cut locks to see if the same tool was used to damage them, a report said.

Stolen items included a Dewalt chop saw, a Dewalt skill saw, two Dewalt drills – which had the letters T and M written on them – 10 feet of welding leads, a Miller suitcase welder and leads, a Milwaukee cordless saw, a Milwaukee 3/4-inch impact drill, a Milwaukee hammer drill, and a Milwaukee corded drill and bits. The stolen equipment was valued at $5,225, according the report.

Surveillance footage shows someone wearing a long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt and shorts breaking into the storage trailers at about 3:15 a.m., the report said.

As of March 27, none of the equipment had been recovered, and a suspect had not been identified, Capt. David Wilson said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
