Multiple storage units were broken into and cameras were damaged in three incidents between May 22-28 at iStorage Self Storage, 6215 W. Outer Road, in Imperial. Items worth more than $41,000 were stolen, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

In one of the incidents, a lock was cut off a storage unit, and 96 comic books worth an estimated $40,000 were stolen. Among the stolen comic books was issue No. 87 of the “New Mutants,” which was valued at $2,200 and includes the first appearance of a character named “Cable. Another one of the stolen comic books was issue No. 98 of the “New Mutants,” which is valued at $2,000 and includes the first appearance of a character named “Deadpool,” the report said.

Between 5 p.m. May 25 and 8:30 a.m. May 26, locks were cut off seven storage units, and one of the owners reported $1,500 worth of stolen items, including $500 worth of jewelry, a Benelli Nova pump shotgun and a compound bow, according to the report.

Between May 26-28, trail cameras were damaged at the business. The damage to the cameras was estimated at $1,000, the report said.

Locks were cut off eight other storage units at the facility, but as of June 8, the Sheriff’s Office had not received reports of items stolen from them, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

None of the stolen items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, as of June 8, Bissell added. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
