Arnold Police arrested a 23-year-old Collinsville, Ill., for allegedly pointing a gun at a 42-year-old Arnold man and pulling the trigger. However, the gun did not fire, Arnold Police reported.
At about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 6, police got a call about a disturbance at a home in the 2200 block of Jackson Drive, and when officers arrived, they allegedly found the Illinois man pointing the gun at the Arnold man. The gun reportedly was loaded, and it is not known why it did not fire, Capt. Rich Shular said.
The Illinois man said he was at the home to retrieve a bank card from one of his relatives, but no one would let him in the house. He said the Arnold man shoved him, and the two began to wrestle in front of the house, the report said.
The Illinois man said the gun fell out of his pocket, and he allegedly admitted to pointing it at the other man but said he did not pull the trigger, according to the report.
A woman inside the home said after the two men wrestled in front of the house, the Illinois man broke free and told a woman who arrived with him to get his gun from the car. The woman who was inside the house said the Illinois man then pointed the gun at the Arnold man and pulled the trigger at least two times, the report said.
The Illinois man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, the report said.
Arnold Police will seek a first-degree assault charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Shular said.
