Festus Police patch

Festus Police are investigating the theft of a chain saw from the uncovered bed of a Twin City Walmart employee’s pickup parked outside the store, 650 S. Truman Blvd., in Festus. The chain saw was valued at $369, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the alleged victim is a 31-year-old Festus man.

Lewis also said surveillance footage captured the theft.

“At about 4 p.m. March 10, we received a call from Walmart loss prevention that an employee had a chain saw stolen from out of his truck,” Lewis said. “Loss prevention looked at surveillance video and saw a car pull up next to the truck at 2:13 p.m. A male suspect got out of the car, took the chain saw from the truck and put it in the car’s trunk. It was in the back of the truck.”

He said the car involved, a 2008 Kia, was traced to a St. Louis woman.

“She was contacted and said she had lent the car to someone,” Lewis said. “We are following up leads.”

As of March 14, the chain saw had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, Lewis said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
