A 39-year-old Catawissa woman was arrested after she was allegedly found with a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine in her jacket pocket. The woman was stopped by an officer who believed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant, Eureka Police reported.

The officer saw the woman walking at about 4:45 a.m. Sept. 26 in a grassy area near Fifth Street and Hilltop Village Center Drive. The officer stopped the woman, and he confirmed she was wanted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, the report said.

The officer arrested the woman, and when she was searched, a small plastic container that had a white crystal-like substance in it was allegedly found in her jacket pocket. The woman allegedly told the officer the substance was meth, according to the report.

The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked pending application for a warrant, Eureka Police reported.

Depending on the results of drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Michael Werges said.
