Eureka Police are investigating the thefts of catalytic converters from a total of six vehicles parked at two businesses on South Outer Road. In all, six converters were stolen, and the damage to the vehicles was estimated at $12,000, police reported.
Officers were called at about 8:20 a.m. April 21 to St. Louis RV Storage, 1500 S. Outer Road, after an employee discovered converters were cut off five RVs stored at the business. The converters were stolen from a 2015 Winnebago, 2013 Newmar Canyon Star, 2004 Monarch Monaco, 2016 Fleetwood Bounder and 2018 Thor Quantum, the report said.
While gathering information at the storage facility, an employee of nearby Midwest Motors, 1400 S. Outer Road, told the officer a converter was stolen off a bus at his lot. The converter was cut off a 2005 Ford Starcraft E-450 at that business, according to the report.
Investigators believe the thefts happened during the overnight hours between April 20-21, Eureka Police reported.
As of May 6, none of the converters had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
