A catalytic converter was stolen off a 2013 Ford E-450 at iStorage, 1699 W. Fifth St., in Eureka. The cost to repair the truck was estimated at $3,000, Eureka Police reported.
The theft was discovered at about 8:15 a.m. March 4 when a customer started the truck and noticed the exhaust was loud. The customer looked under the truck and discovered the converter had been removed, the report said.
A cage that had been placed around the converter to prevent theft had a steel rod cut from it. The rod was found under the truck, according to the report.
The rental location's manager said the truck had been parked at the business for about a week, and he did not know when the converter may have been stolen, Eureka Police reported.
As of March 13, the converter had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
