The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of cash, jewelry and other items from a home in the 800 block of Stone Gate Drive northwest of De Soto. Altogether the items were valued at $89,740, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told investigators he left his home at about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27, and when he returned home at about 10:30 p.m. that day, he found the items missing. In addition to the cash and jewelry, purses and coats were stolen. A gun had been removed from a drawer but was left behind, the report said.
There were no signs of forced entry into the house, according to the report.
As of Feb. 3, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
