The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a 2003 Honda Civic from outside a home in the 1100 block of Silverwillow Court in unincorporated Fenton. The car later was damaged in a traffic accident, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The theft was reported March 19. The car had been parked in the driveway and had been left unlocked with the keys inside, the report said.
Shortly after the car was reported stolen, deputies got a call about a one-vehicle crash at East Romaine and West Rock Creek roads where the Civic was found abandoned. The Civic, which was valued at $6,000, was damaged from the crash and “had to be towed to a nearby facility,” said Grant Bissell, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
He said no arrests had been made as of March 29. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
