A 2005 Acura that was stolen from outside a home in the 500 block of Abby Lane in Eureka allegedly was used in a series of vehicle break-ins around the city. The Acura was stolen between 6 p.m. July 18 and 9:30 a.m. July 19 and was found the same day in Fenton. The car contained items that were stolen from other vehicles on July 19, Eureka Police reported.
Four men reportedly could be seen on surveillance video early July 19 exiting the stolen car in the Elk Run and Hilltop Village subdivisions, where break-ins occurred between about 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Vehicles parked along Elk Run Drive, Caribou Court and Shaw Drive were broken into, with windows being smashed and doors damaged, Capt. David Wilson said.
A 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, which belongs to the Eureka Police Department, was among the vehicles broken into. The passenger-side window was smashed and the door frame was damaged. The damage was estimated at $2,300, Wilson said.
He said no police equipment was stolen from the pickup. However, an officer had a gym bag filled with personnel items in the vehicle, and it was stolen.
As of Aug. 2, none of the men seen exiting the Acura had been identified, Wilson said. Anyone with information about the incidents should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
