crime investigation

Festus Police are investigating the theft of a car from outside Thirty 3 Bar, 42 E. Main St. The theft was reported late on Aug. 31 after the victim left the bar and found it missing from the space where it had been parked, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

The victim, a 55-year-old man, reported the theft at 11:55 a.m. Aug. 31. The stolen car is a 2001 Ford Taurus, Lewis said.

“When he came out, it was gone,” Lewis said. “He had the keys on his person – does not know how it was stolen.”

Lewis said he did not know what time the victim left the bar and discovered his car missing, but he did not report the theft immediately.

“I don’t know why he waited,” he said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
