The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a Trans Am hood that was being stored in a box truck parked outside a home in the 4400 block of East Four Ride Road in Imperial. In addition, a generator was stolen off the box truck, and an air-conditioning unit attached to a garage at the home was damaged, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The items were stolen and the air conditioner was damaged between Aug. 22 and Sept. 5. Deputies were called to the home by the property owner, who said he leaves the box truck parked at the home, which he rents out. The owner said he was at the home to perform maintenance for his tenants when he noticed the radiator was missing from the 1973 International box truck, the report said.

The victim said a lock had been cut off the truck, and the hood for a 1978 Trans Am had been taken from the truck. He also told investigators the wiring had been stripped from a 4-ton air-conditioning unit that was behind the garage, according to the report.

The value of the missing items and the damage to the air conditioner were estimated at $1,900, the report said.

As of Sept. 15, neither the hood nor radiator had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
