A car caught fire while it was parked at the pumps at the BP gas station, 4685 Gravois Road, in House Springs on Jan. 22. No one was injured, High Ridge Fire Protection District Chief John Barton said.
Crews arrived on the scene at 1:41 p.m., and the fire was extinguished two minutes later, he said.
“The attendant at the gas station was alerted to the fire and triggered the emergency gas shutoff to the pumps, and bystanders helped to push the vehicle away from the pump and out from under the canopy before the fire spread to the station equipment,” Barton said.
He said there was no obvious cause for the fire.
“Both the engine compartment and passenger compartment were engulfed in flames when the first firetruck arrived,” Barton said.
The Eureka, Antonia, Goldman and Cedar Hill fire protection districts helped with the call. The Big River Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
