Sunglasses possibly left behind by a suspect in a May 15 vehicle break-in in the De Soto area might help in the investigation, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The victim reported her Canon EOS 70D camera valued at $2,200 was stolen from her minivan sometime between 10 p.m. May 14 and 5 p.m. May 15. The vehicle had been parked in her driveway in the 5300 block of Lee Lane.
She told the investigating deputy that when she noticed the vehicle’s glove compartment open and the camera missing, she found a pair of sunglasses on the driver’s seat that did not belong to anyone she knows.
The deputy took the sunglasses for DNA analysis and to test for latent prints.
The victim said the doors to the minivan were not locked.
As of May 22, the camera had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.
