A burglary at the Village Green Apartments was reported to Pevely Police on Sunday evening (May 31).

A 56-year-old woman who lives in the first block of Village Green said she left her apartment about 4:30 p.m. When she returned at 10:29 p.m., her front door, which had been locked, was partially open. It had not been forced.

“It looked like the perpetrator entered through a screened window that was bent,” Police Chief Ron Weeks said. “Whoever it was went in through the kitchen window.”

Officers found an empty silver piggy bank, a ransacked jewelry box and some prescription drug bottles left on a bed.

The victim did not give an estimate of the value of items taken.

Anyone with information on the break-in is asked to call Pevely Police at 475-5301.
