Brandon Pfotenhauer, 36, of the Festus area has been charged after allegedly threatening to set a woman on fire and attempting to hit her with a rake at their home in the 500 block of Oakland Hill Drive south of Festus, according to court documents.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on June 18 charged Pfotenhauer with first-degree harassment and third-degree domestic assault, each a class E felony punishably by up to four years in prison; and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison, court records show.
As of Tuesday, July 1, Pfotenhauer was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court documents.
The woman, who Pfotenhauer allegedly attacked, called deputies to the home on June 17. She said the two were arguing and Pfotenhauer had thrown items at her, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Deputies saw broken glass and an overturned table in the home, the report said.
The woman also said Pfotenhauer poured gas on her and in the home and allegedly threatened to set her and the house on fire. The woman provided cell phone video of Pfotenhauer allegedly pouring lighter fluid on her and in the home, according to the report.
Pfotenhauer was not at the home when deputies arrived, but the deputies were called back to the home a short time after taking the woman’s report because Pfotenhauer had returned. Pfotenhauer allegedly grabbed the woman and tried to hit her with a rake, the report said.
Deputies arrested Pfotenhauer when they returned to the home, according to the report.
