The Beacon Cafe, 4639 Hwy. 61, in Bloomsdale was destroyed by a fire early this morning (May 6), said Michael Straussberg, deputy chief for the Jefferson R-7 Fire District.
No one was hurt, he said.
Jefferson R-7 Fire got a call at 1:01 a.m. about the blaze and assisted the Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department with the call, Straussberg said.
No one was inside when the fire broke out, he said.
The fire was contained to the cafe, so no out buildings were damaged, Straussberg said.
He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, Straussberg added.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours, he said.
The Hematite Fire Protection District and the Bloomsdale and Goose Creek Lake fire departments also assisted with the call, Straussberg said.
