Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are searching for a big rig driver who allegedly caused $1,600 in damage in the Elk Run subdivision.

The damage occurred about 5 a.m. May 3, just hours after the Meramec River crested in Eureka at a record 46.11 feet.

“It (the truck) got into a subdivision and couldn’t maneuver and did some damage,” Eureka Police Lt. David Wilson said.

The truck ran over two mailboxes – one valued at $150 and another valued at $600 – a light pole valued at $700, a No Parking sign valued at $100 and a flower bed valued at $50, a police report said.

The only description of the truck is that it is white, Wilson said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
