woman in handcuffs

A 37-year-old Berger woman who was found slumped over at the wheel of a pickup at a Eureka bank was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The woman was found in a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup at 9:51 p.m. March 4 in the parking lot of Farmers and Merchants Bank, 619 Stockell Drive, Eureka Police report.

An officer spotted the pickup idling in the middle of the parking lot. She approached the vehicle and saw the suspect slumped over at the wheel, allegedly holding a glass pipe in one hand and a blow torch in the other, according to the report.

The woman was unconscious and did not respond when the officer knocked on the window. An ambulance was called, but the suspect woke up and refused medical attention, the report said.

The woman was taken into custody, and when the officer searched the pickup, she allegedly found glass pipes, a torch and a bag containing an off-white powdery substance, the report said.

The suspect was taken to the police station, where she was booked and released. Pending lab analysis of the powder, Eureka Police will seek warrants through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Eureka Capt. David Wilson said.
