A 31-year-old Barnhart man was arrested after he allegedly kicked in a door and hid under blankets on a bed at a home in the 1900 block of Sonny Drive in Arnold, where his parents used to live in. The current homeowner is not related to the suspect, Arnold Police reported.
At about 11 p.m. Nov. 17, a 38-year-old Arnold man called police to the home after he discovered the back door had been kicked in. The cost to repair the door was estimated at $100, the report said.
No one was home when the door was kicked in, and it was not known when the man allegedly broke into the home and how long he had been inside. No other damage to the home was reported, according to the report.
After officers arrived at the home, they searched it and found the 31-year-old hiding on the bed in the basement. The man allegedly told police his parents used to live at the home, and they had kicked him out because of his criminal behavior. He also told police he believed he should be allowed back into the home, the report said.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree burglary, Capt. Rich Shular said.
