A 41-year-old Barnhart man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Arnold. The man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 10 after he was pulled over on Old Lemay Ferry Road near Water Color Drive, Arnold Police reported.
An officer checked the license plates on a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier the man was driving and discovered they were registered to a Hyundai Sonata, so the officer then stopped the man. The officer asked the driver if he had anything illegal in the car, and the man looked at a laptop case on the floorboard in the front passenger side of the car and said, “I don’t think so, maybe a beer or two,” the report said.
The officer searched the case and allegedly found a white crystal-like substance that appeared to be meth and a smoking pipe with black residue. The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
