Crystal City Police have released the names of the victim and the suspect in a fatal stabbing that happened Thursday night (Feb. 28) at Crystal Tavern, 118 Mississippi Ave., in Crystal City.

The victim, Keith Dozier, 34, of Festus, died early this morning (March 1), about an hour after he was stabbed.

Dwayne Bisch, 38, of De Soto, has been charged with two felonies for allegedly stabbing Dozier.

At about 11:25 p.m. Feb. 28, officers were dispatched to the tavern and found Dozier had been stabbed in the chest. He was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m. this morning, Crystal City Police Chief Chad Helms said.

Helms said he does not know what led to the stabbing.

“Our agency is continuing to work on this incident to find out all the answers to what exactly happened,” he said.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Bisch with second-degree murder, a class A felony punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison, as well as armed criminal action, an unclassified felony punishable by a minimum of three years in prison.

Bisch was transported to the Jefferson County Jail and is being held on $500,000 cash-only bond, Helms said.
