Arnold Police are investigating the theft of an SUV from outside a home in the 2100 block of Christy Drive. The victim, a 31-year-old Arnold woman, told police two people who had been helping her move items from a family member’s basement into her 2008 Jeep Cherokee, stole it, police reported.

The SUV, which was valued at $2,000, was stolen at about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 19, and the victim reported the theft on Feb. 21. The woman told officers she had gone to a family member’s home on Christy Drive to pick up items from the basement, and a family member had called a man and a woman to help move the items, the report said.

The victim said at about 8:30 p.m., she went outside to check on the two people who had been helping move the items, and they were gone and the Jeep was missing. She said she contacted the pair through Facebook Messenger, and they reportedly told her they were feeling sick and took the Jeep to get medicine. They also said they would return in about 20 minutes, but they did not come back, according to the report.

The woman said she again contacted the pair through Facebook, and they allegedly told her the Jeep had broken down. They also told her they were taking the Jeep to get it fixed, but then stopped responding to the victim’s messages, the report said.

The victim said she does not know the suspects’ names or address, Arnold Police reported.

As of Feb. 23, the Jeep was still missing, and the man and woman had not been located, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
