Arnold Police arrested two women on a variety of offenses following a traffic stop on Old Lemay Ferry Road and Arnold Commons Drive. An officer pulled over the women because they were in a Toyota Celica that had a temporary tag that was spray-painted red, police reported.

The incident happened at about 3 p.m. April 29. While the car the officer was pulling over was coming to a stop, a 38-year-old Hillsboro woman in the back seat allegedly threw a smoking pipe out the window, and then she ran from the car when it was stopped, the report said.

The woman ran to the nearby Lowe’s parking lot, where she was stopped and arrested by another officer. In the meantime, the officer who stopped the car discovered Maryland Heights Police were searching for it in connection with a reported theft, according to the report.

The officer also learned the driver, a 53-year-old Arnold woman, was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on warrants for possession of a controlled substance, first-degree drug trafficking and second-degree drug trafficking. The driver also allegedly was driving with a revoked license, the report said.

The officer arrested the driver, and both women were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked. The driver was held for the Sheriff’s Office, and the passenger was released pending application for warrants, according to the report.

Arnold Police will seek a charge against the 53-year-old woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for driving while revoked. She already had five previous DWR charges, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.

He also said police will seek charges against the 38-year-old woman through the Arnold Municipal Court for possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
