A 37-year-old Arnold woman reportedly was assaulted May 28 at the St. Louis West Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday campground pool in Eureka, and police are looking for an SUV they believe the female suspect was driving. The victim was not seriously injured, Eureka Police Lt. Michael Werges said.
Officers were called at about 3:50 p.m. to the campground, 18475 Old Hwy. 66. The alleged victim said a woman attacked her in the pool area, and the suspect then left with three children in a black 2008 Chevrolet Suburban with Iowa license plates, the report said.
The Arnold woman said her daughter was being yelled at by the alleged suspect in the pool area. The suspect accused the alleged victim’s daughter of not doing anything to help the suspect’s 10-year-old son while he appeared to be drowning in the pool, according to the report.
The Arnold woman said she told the suspect that her daughter likely didn’t realize the boy was struggling and apologized that her daughter didn’t help him. The alleged victim said she walked away from the other woman, but the suspect allegedly attacked her from behind. The Arnold woman said her husband stopped the other woman from further assaulting her, Eureka Police reported.
The alleged victim had scratches on her shoulder, but did not need medical treatment, the report said.
As of June 2, the suspect, described as a woman in her 30s with blond hair, had not been located, Lt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the SUV or the woman to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
