A 34-year-old Arnold woman was arrested the day after she allegedly stole a purse from an unlocked car and charged at least $625.85 to a credit card and bank card that were in the purse, Arnold Police reported.

A 38-year-old St. Peters woman told police that at about 6:30 p.m. March 29, her purse and wallet were stolen from her 2017 Nissan Maxima while it was parked outside Little Caesars Pizza, 1851 Jeffco Blvd., where she works. The purse and wallet were valued at about $100, and $85 in cash was in the purse, the report said.

The victim’s cards were used to make purchases totaling $226.85 at Walgreens, 776 Jeffco Blvd.; $70 at Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave.; and $56 at the Zingers Mart, 1502 Jeffco Blvd., according to the report.

The victim’s cards also were used at Target, 4250 Rusty Road, in south St. Louis County for a $273 purchase, and at two businesses in the South County Center mall, 18 S. County Center Way. At the mall, the cards were used at the Claire’s store and the Auntie Anne’s pretzel shop, but the amount charged for each of those transactions was not reported.

Officers identified the woman suspected of using the stolen cards and arrested her at about 9:40 a.m. March 30 at her Arnold home. The woman allegedly told officers she stole the purse, Arnold Police reported.

The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against her through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing and fraudulent use of credit and debit cards, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.
