woman in handcuffs

A 31-year-old Arnold woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a car and $1,259 from a family member. She was arrested at about 11 a.m. Oct. 25, after she was found sleeping in the stolen car, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, Arnold Police reported.

The woman’s relative reportedly confronted her at about 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 about allegedly stealing the money using a cash app and told her she could no longer stay at his home on Ashley Court. She then allegedly took the relative’s car and left, the report said.

When she was found sleeping in the car outside a home on Penrose Trail, a 35-year-old Arnold man was with her. Police allegedly found two Craftsman chainsaws that the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had reported stolen, according to the report.

Arnold Police arrested the woman, Capt. Rich Shular said. However, he said he did not know if the Sheriff’s Office arrested the man for possession of the stolen chainsaws.

The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against her for stealing of a motor vehicle and felony stealing of more than $750, Shular said.
