Arnold Police arrested a 30-year-old Arnold woman suspected of stealing guns and ammunition after she was spotted parked outside an Arnold store and a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. The incident happened about 1:15 p.m. Nov. 20 in the parking lot of Ross Dress for Less, 818 Arnold Commons Drive, authorities reported.
A crime suppression unit officer noticed the woman inside a 2011 Mazda 3 at the store. The officer recognized the woman from previous encounters and knew she was wanted for questioning about a theft, the report said.
She allegedly stole two 9 mm Taurus handguns and 9 mm ammunition from two roommates she was staying with at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Arnold Tenbrook Court. The theft occurred between 2:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Nov. 18. The guns and ammunition were valued at $624.04, according to a report.
The officer made contact with the woman, arrested her and while searching the car, allegedly found syringes and 11 clear plastic bags with residue inside them. As of Nov. 29, the guns and ammunition had not been recovered, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
Depending on lab results from the drug analysis, police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and stealing, Wooldridge said.
