A 41-year-old Arnold woman allegedly was found with methamphetamine after she reported being robbed. The woman contacted Arnold Police at about 7:40 p.m. Dec. 19, saying that a man she had given a ride to stole $510 from her when they were traveling on I-55, a report said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office located the alleged robber, a 26-year-old St. Louis man, near highways 141 and 21 west of Arnold and transported him to the Arnold Police station. The man already was wanted in St. Louis and St. Louis County on outstanding warrants for destruction of property and a traffic violation, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
During the investigation, Arnold Police learned that the Arnold woman allegedly gave the St. Louis man money to purchase illegal drugs, but he did not completely fulfill the alleged order and kept the remainder of her money, Jones said.
A K-9 officer – a police dog – detected drugs on the woman, and police allegedly found her with a small baggie containing meth and four capsules of what appeared to be a controlled substance, the report said.
The woman was booked and then released pending application for warrants. Depending on results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek felony drug charges against her through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.
