A 27-year-old Arnold woman was arrested for alleged possession of heroin, Xanax and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop. The woman was a passenger in a car driven by another woman who was wanted on a warrant from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for traffic violations, Arnold Police reported.
At about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 19, Arnold Police saw the Arnold woman standing between a Pontiac Trans Am and a 2004 Hyundai Elantra in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Key West Drive. It appeared the woman was exchanging something with someone in the Pontiac, and police believed she was participating in a drug transaction, the report said.
The officers checked the license plates on both cars and discovered a warrant attached to the Elantra. After the Arnold woman got into the Elantra and both cars left the parking lot, officers stopped the Elantra on Hwy. 141 near Old Lemay Ferry Road, according to the report.
A 56-year-old House Springs woman was driving the car, and the 27-year-old appeared to be trying to hide a container underneath her passenger seat. The driver refused to allow the police to search the vehicle, but a trained dog was brought in and alerted officers to possible drugs in the car, the report said.
When the car was searched, officers found the container the 27-year-old woman reportedly had tried to hide, and it allegedly contained substances believed to be heroin and Xanax. The woman also allegedly had a needle and other drug paraphernalia in her pockets, Arnold Police reported.
Officers arrested the 27-year-old, transported her to the Police Station, booked her and released her pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
The driver also was arrested and taken to the Police Station, but she was let go after the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said they would not come to arrest her on the warrant for traffic violations, Shular said.
