A 50-year-old Arnold woman who asked a police officer for help to find her car keys was arrested after heroin allegedly was found inside the car. The incident happened just before noon on Jan. 25 at the WoodSprings Suites, 888 Arnold Commons Drive, Arnold Police reported.
The hotel, which had been closed since Dec. 8 because of water damage following a fire, had reopened Jan. 13, Arnold Community Development Director David Bookless said.
Less than two weeks later, police were called to the hotel to help the woman find keys to a 2005 Toyota Camry. While searching for the keys, the officer checked the license plate on the car, which was not registered to the Camry. After finding the keys, the officer then asked the woman if he could search the car and allegedly found a capsule containing a white-powdery substance in the car’s ashtray and a glass pipe with residue on the floorboard, the report said.
The woman already was wanted on a warrant from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. She was arrested and taken to the Police Station and held for the Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Rich Shular said.
Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
