A 26-year-old Arnold woman was taken to the hospital after she allegedly swallowed 10 capsules containing fentanyl before she was arrested for alleged possession of drugs. She was arrested during a traffic stop on Ridgecrest Drive near Wagon Wheel Court, Arnold Police reported.
The woman was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County after she told officers she swallowed the capsules. She was evaluated at the hospital, and it was determined she could be transported to the Jefferson County Jail. She was taken to the Jail because she was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on three warrants for possession of a controlled substance, the report said.
The woman was arrested at about 1:50 p.m. June 3 after Arnold Police stopped a pickup she was riding in. The officers stopped the 2003 Ford Ranger because the license plates on the vehicle had expired, according to the report.
In addition, the license plates were registered to a different driver, and the 21-year-old Arnold man driving the pickup told police he had just purchased the pickup and that was the reason the plates were under a different name. The man also allegedly had a revoked license and was wanted by Arnold Police on a warrant for driving with a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia, the report said.
A police dog indicated illegal drugs could be in the vehicle, and officers allegedly searched the woman’s purse and found three glass pipes with residue, a bag with blue powder, four syringes containing a liquid, two empty syringes, a bag with a substance believed to be marijuana, a pouch with 42 empty capsules and other drug paraphernalia, police reported.
The woman and man were arrested and taken to the Police Station, where they were booked. The man was released with a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for driving with a revoked license and displaying license plates belonging to another person, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence, Valentine said.
