A civil complaint has been filed against an Arnold woman who allegedly failed to pay more than $1.19 million in taxes on behalf of employees who worked for her former business, the U.S. Attorney’s office reported.
The complaint says Deanna D. Piskulic operated the now-defunct nursing home called Elder Helpers, and she failed to pay income and Federal Insurance Contribution Act (FICA) taxes for her employees from September 2007 to March 2009.
The complaint, which qas filed April 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, says Piskulic willfully failed to pay the taxes and that she was notified on May 3, 2010, about paying the federal government the overdue taxes. The filing says Piskulic owes a total of $1,191,320.30 in taxes.
The U.S. Attorney’s office has asked the court to order Piskulic top repay the back taxes, along with statutory interest and additions accruing after April 1, according to the complaint.
An attorney is not listed for Piskulic in the filing, and she could not be reached for comment.
