Arnold Police arrested two men found hiding in bushes outside the Best Auto repair shop, 2120 Michigan Ave., after one of the men’s probation officers alerted them to their presence. One of the men was wearing a GPS monitor as part of his probation agreement, and the two men allegedly admitted they were at the business to steal catalytic converters, police reported.
The probation officer called police at about 3 a.m. May 26 after a 42-year-old Bismarck man’s GPS monitor showed he was near the repair shop in violation of his parole. The suspect was found hiding with a 29-year-old Lesterville man, who was wanted on a warrant from the St. Louis County Police, the report said.
The two men allegedly were found with a backpack and inside it was an unknown powdery substance suspected of being illegal drugs, as well as a saw and blades typically used to cut converters off vehicles, the report said.
The men were taken to the Police Station, where they were held for the other law enforcement agencies. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the men through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
