Authorities are seeking a 31-year-old Imperial man suspected in several area thefts who recently escaped while he was being transported to the Arnold Police Department, Detective Lt. James Jones said Friday (Feb. 3).

At about 2 a.m. Jan. 29, Law Enforcement Total Solutions, a company that police departments pay to pick up and transport prisoners, had the man in custody and arrived at the Arnold Police Department to drop him off. However, while the man was being taken out of the transport vehicle, he got away and fled. The man was handcuffed at the time, Arnold Police reported.

The man is wanted in Arnold for allegedly stealing $264 in clothing from a thrift store called Arnold’s Walk-In Closet, 1726 Missouri State Road, on Jan. 23, Jones said.

He said the man also is wanted in Jefferson County in connection with a theft from an Express Mart, as well as in St. Charles for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
