Police have arrested a 27-year-old Florissant woman who reportedly used a fake Wells Fargo account to buy a pickup from a man outside the Arnold Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave. The woman was supposed to pay the man $57,000, but she allegedly provided him with fake bank account information, Arnold Police reported.
After the man received the alleged false account information, he turned over the 2019 Ford F-150 to the woman on July 29 but then reported it stolen Aug. 8 when he discovered the payment information was fake. Investigators located the pickup by using its GPS system, and St. Charles Police found the Ford in the parking lot outside the Ameristar Casino, 1 Ameristar Blvd., the report said.
A man was in the pickup when officers found it, and he led them to the woman who allegedly got it after providing fraudulent information to the seller in Arnold, according to the report.
The woman was taken to the Arnold Police Station, where she was booked, interviewed and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek a felony stealing charge against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
