Arnold Police are investigating a rash of recent thefts from vehicles parked at gyms in the city.
Between about 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. May 30, someone broke into four vehicles parked at 24 Hour Fitness in the Arnold Crossroads retail complex at Hwy. 141 and Jeffco Boulevard.
It looks like the same culprit broke into a vehicle parked at Club Fitness in the Water Tower development off Michigan Avenue at about 10 p.m. May 30, Arnold Police reported.
All the vehicles were locked and the thief broke windows to get inside the vehicles, the report said.
At 24 Hour Fitness, the culprit broke into a 2010 Pontiac and stole a backpack valued at about $40, as well as a 2012 Ford and stole a backpack worth about $50, Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman said.
In addition, the theif broke into a 2001 Ford and stole about $50 cash and two credit cards from a wallet. A 2006 Jeep also was broken into and $200 in cash was stolen from a purse and wallet, Ruckman said.
At Club Fitness, someone broke into a 2003 Pontiac and stole a wallet that contained a driver’s license, the report said.
As of Tuesday (June 3), there were no suspects or arrests, Ruckman said.
He said there has been a problem for some time with thefts from vehicles parked at gyms across the region.
Ruckman advises people against leaving valuable items in plain view inside their vehicles.
