An Arnold man and a St. Louis man, both 27, were arrested after they allegedly fled from police during a traffic stop in Arnold. The incident happened about 8:10 a.m. Nov. 18, after an officer stopped a car near the Circle K gas station, 1980 Richardson Road, Arnold Police reported.
The officer stopped the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu after the Drug Enforcement Administration requested help to find the car because the Arnold man was wanted on a warrant. As the officer awaited backup following the traffic stop, the St. Louis man got out of the front passenger-side door and ran from the Malibu. The officer got out of the patrol vehicle and after a short foot chase, apprehended the passenger without further incident, according to the report.
While the officer was running after the passenger, the Arnold man drove away. Other officers stopped the Malibu near Budget Truck Rental, 4039 Jeffco Blvd., and arrested the driver without further incident, the report said.
The St. Louis man already was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for a probation violation, police reported.
Both men were taken to the Police Station, and the Arnold man was booked and turned over to DEA agents, who will seek charges against him, Capt. Rich Shular said.
He said the St. Louis man was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek a charge against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for resisting arrest.
