Arnold Police arrested a 41-year-old St. Louis woman for alleged drug possession after finding her slumped behind the wheel of a running SUV in the Richardson Crossing shopping plaza off Richardson Road, police reported.

Officers were called at about 6:30 a.m. June 12 to the shopping plaza after someone saw the running 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. The SUV was in the parking lot between the Culver’s restaurant, 123 Richardson Crossing, and the Regions Bank, 180 Richardson Crossing, the report said.

An officer placed the SUV in park, turned off the engine and woke the woman up. When she got out of the Santa Fe, the officer allegedly found several capsules suspected of containing an illegal substance and a glass smoking device on the driver’s seat, according to the report.

The woman was arrested and then released to emergency medical services personnel for medical attention, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
